Fri-yay!

Happy Friday! Anyone else feel like this week took forever? That could be because I have an exciting weekend ahead of me. It’s my birthday weekend! I’ve got so much to look forward to. Today I am getting off early and going to get my nails and toes done. After that I’ve got a celebratory happy hour. Tomorrow? Breakfast with my family, getting my hair done, getting my make up done and then dinner and a night out with some of my favorite people. We shall see what’s in store for the rest of the weekend but for right now I want to get into the highlights from my week. Similar to other bloggers I read I want to share fun things on Friday before we head off into the weekend:

Fitness Classes

Striving To Be Better

I joined a fitness studio with my friend Kristie. The studio is called Striving To Be Better Fitness. They offer Les Mills Body Combat and Body Flow, Zumba (regular and toning), HIIT, and yoga. I love the accountability. I’ve been three times this week and the night I didn’t go I still got in a workout. I’ve been following the Tone It Up fall challenge and combining those workouts with classes from the gym.

Finding a Birthday Dress

I found this dress in the juniors section of Macy’s. I decided to try it on in a dressing room full of moms who had their daughters trying on homecoming dresses. Needless to say it did not fit and I had a moment of panic where I imagined having to be cut out of it by one of the moms and in that same moment I imagined the mom telling their kid on the way home “don’t be that girl in 10 years”. Shortly after I envisioned all of the worst case scenarios I managed to get myself out of the dress. No luck at Macy’s, JCPenny’s, Kohl’s, Forever 21 or Marshalls. I will say living downtown limits my shopping options but I’m okay with that since it’s better for my wallet long term. I’ve decided on a fun dress already in my closet.

Toffee Nut Syrup

For anyone who likes the flavor of toffee Starbucks toffee nut syrup is my jam. It was recently introduced to me and since then it’s a requirement for my iced coffee. PS- there appears to be a letter missing on my name.

I baked chicken sausage (Johnsonville Chipotle & Jack flavor) with green and red peppers, and a yellow onion at 400 degrees for 40 minutes. After I cut up the ingredients I drizzled olive oil on them and seasoned with salt, pepper, garlic powder and garlic salt. I also cut up and baked sweet potatoes during the same time. It was delicious and easy. Plus, I have a ton of leftovers to share with my coworkers today!
