Weekend Visitor

Welcome to the start of another week! The weekend flew by as it typically does. However, I get to see Journey tonight in concert and having something to look forward to on a Monday always makes it easier. I also did not make it to the Tall Ships over the weekend. The crowd/figuring out how to get there looked a bit much for my soul. Needless to say I still had a great weekend and I hope you did too. Here’s a recap!

It was raining cats and dogs by the time I left work Friday. I went home and did a few things before getting ready and picking up my friend Malina from the train station. Malina came in to town and is stay until Tuesday morning. Tuesday morning she is taking the bus to Maine and Wednesday she will start hiking the Appalachian Trail from Maine to Georgia. I am incredibly excited for her and definitely proud. She’s awesome. I’m also very thankful I got to spend the weekend with her before she begins one of her biggest dreams. After we picked her up from the train station we headed to Chipotle for dinner. From there we just went home and settled in and caught up. It was still raining like crazy.

Saturday we woke up and headed to Salem, MA. The original plan was to spend time in Salem on Saturday and head to Boston on Sunday.

We started off with breakfast at The Ugly Mug. I can’t say enough about how delicious the food at Ugly Mug is. Sadly,  I didn’t snap any pictures but we had Chipotle Hash Eggs Benedict, Huevos Rancheros, and split a mousse waffle that was on special for the day. It’s the second time I’ve been the The Ugly Mug and I already can’t wait to go back. The concept is based on their collection of various mugs and they sure do have some good ones. But if you are ever in Salem, MA I absolutely recommend checking it out. After that we walked around for a bit and FaceTimed an old co-worker. After stopping in a couple of the shops we decided to make our way to the Salem Beer Works brewery for a couple of flights.

Pictured above is the Watermelon Ale, BWX Blue, Kiwi Hefeweizen, and Hibiscus Sour. The Watermelon Ale was my favorite. I had been wanting to try a Watermelon Beer for quite some time.

After we finished our time in Salem we headed home where we relaxed, ate some delicious food, had some drinks and finished a 1,000 piece puzzle. I guess I should call it 999 because sadly we were missing one piece.

Sunday started off in the most delicious way with cinnamon rolls for breakfast! Cinnamon rolls from the can are my absolute favorite. We also had eggs and potatoes. I am making a mental night to be better about documenting my food. After breakfast we decided to head to the pool for a bit. We were going to go to Boston later in the day to avoid most of the crowd. We sat by the pool and enjoyed some delicious mimosa beverages and before you knew it was 4:00.

We went over to the lounge at the apartment and played some pool and shuffle board before heading back over to grill some wings, ribs and corn on the cob. Mighty delicious dinner. But by the time it was all said and done it was close to 7:30 and that didn’t leave much time to go to Boston. We decided to forgo that idea and played some Jenga and watched Netflix documentaries before heading to bed.

Outside of it flying by it was an absolutely awesome weekend. I am so happy to have Malina in town!
